We conduct regular drills and exercises with all the teams to ensure we are always ready to respond to an incident, no matter what size.
Dubai Petroleum has an “incident command” structure when it comes to emergency response. Offshore we have Emergency Control Teams to deal with all scenarios and trained fire, medical and chemical response teams. In the event of a more significant incident, the onshore Incident Management Team will provide support from our dedicated incident control room. Where the incident can have a significant impact on the company, the Crisis Management Team is deployed to work closely with key stakeholders and to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery.
As an offshore oil producing company, it is essential to have an emergency response capability in the unlikely event of an oil spill to the sea. Dubai Petroleum maintains an in-house response capability to tackle a Tier 1 and Tier 2 spill, allowing us to instantly respond to a small or moderate sized spill, and therefore minimise any impact on the environment.
Dubai Petroleum is a shareholder in Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) who would mobilise in the event of a major Tier 3 spill. OSRL is a recognised leader in the oil spill response business and has the capability to respond and mobilise to major incidents in a very short time period, with significant global assets available, including jet aircraft with the ability to spray dispersants over a wide area.
We conduct regular drills and exercises with all the teams to ensure we are always ready to respond to an incident, no matter what size. The whole process forms part of our ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Standard certification, which covers the full scope of our business activities.
