Energy Saving Initiative
Pursuant to the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy directive, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Dubai Petroleum Establishment promotes sustainable energy conservation programs and initiatives to achieve energy solutions within the organization.
Some examples of this implementation are listed below:
- Solar Panels have been installed on Jalilah Platform in order to power all the equipment on this facility.
- A 1MW motor-driven compressor package was procured and installed offshore in July 2012 to drive a purpose-built compressor. Use redundant pipeline infrastructure to allow the supply of fuel gas offshore without the need for compression.
- Chilled Water Set Point increased from 6 to 8 °C to 7 °C to 9°C after office hours
- Modify Air Handling Units (AHU) that are having poor heat transfer.
- A/C Temperature – 24°C during office hours; 27°C after office hours and switch off air conditioners in common areas.
- Shut Off Fan Cool Units in MOC after office hours.
- Utilized solar panels to heat the swimming pool and for hot water needs at the restaurant kitchen and gym showers
- Converted 50% of tube lights across DP Main Office Complex to Energy Efficient Lights
- Manually switched off non-essential lights in pipe yard at Jebel Ali Base
- 70% of external tube lights were removed and replaced in car park areas
- Installed transparent sheets in technical workshop roof to utilize the natural sunlight at the Jebel Ali Base.
- Installed Air Handling Unit (AHU) timer circuits designed to automatically turn on/off the air handling units during non-office hours
- Installed tertiary treated effluent water facility in cooperation with Dubai Municipality (A total of 500,000 IG of potable water saved by using tertiary treated effluent water line)
- Automatic sensor taps in the bathrooms
- Installed “Heat Resistant Insulated Films”
- Installation and Use of Motion Sensors for the Lights in the Bathrooms and other common areas
